Records
Swaps, sales, and some payments can be tax events. This course is not tax advice. The record is so you can ask someone who is qualified, with numbers instead of guesses.

A worked case
Someone swaps one coin for another and keeps no note because they did not touch dollars. Later they cannot say what the coins were worth that day. A friend in a chat gives them a number. The friend is not a tax agent. The missing record is the problem this page can help with, and only that.
What to keep
Date, what you sold, what you received, the value in dollars that day, and the fees. An exchange export helps until the exchange dies. Keep your own copy.
Ask someone qualified
Rules differ, and they change. A friend in a chat is not a tax agent. A missing record becomes a worse conversation later.
TXKN will not calculate what you owe.
HMRC will not accept a screenshot of a vibe
In the UK, HM Revenue and Customs publishes guidance on cryptoassets. Swaps, sales, and some payments can be disposals. The guidance changes, and it is not the same in other countries. This course is not tax advice and will not calculate what you owe. What it will say is that the people who suffer are the ones who swapped for a year and kept nothing, because the exchange they used later died, or because they thought a swap was not real until dollars appeared.
FTX customers who could still log in for a while after the collapse had a window to download history, and then they did not. Celsius customers met a claims process that wanted amounts and dates. A friend's number in a chat is not a record. A record is the date, what you sold, what you received, the value in dollars that day, and the fees.
Keep your own copy while the export button still works. Take it to someone qualified if you need a bill. Do not take it to this website. We will not become your accountant by being linked from a lesson.

These links are the record. They are not a recommendation, and they are not instructions. A news story or a court paper can still be wrong about a detail. The check does not change because a famous name is in the story.

Open a question. The line is about this topic. It is not a verdict that anything is safe.
A qualified person, if you hire them. Not this page.
The law where you live, which can change.
A missing record, which leaves you guessing. TXKN will not calculate what you owe.
Check yourself
If you swapped one coin for another, might that be a taxable event?
It can be. This page will not tell you your bill. Keep the record and ask.
After this you can keep a copy of your trades and fees, and take it to someone qualified.
